Trump is set to hold a news conference, marking his first public appearance since rival Harris selected Walz.

**PALM BEACH, Fla.— Former President Donald Trump has announced he will hold a news conference on Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. This will be his first public appearance since Vice President Kamala Harris was named the Democratic presidential nominee and selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Trump revealed the 2 p.m. EDT event on his Truth Social network and expressed eagerness to debate Harris. He had hinted at a debate announcement earlier in the week after withdrawing from an ABC News debate scheduled for September 10. Although he had initially preferred a Fox News-sponsored debate, Trump showed openness to reconsidering ABC’s involvement on Wednesday.

“I will expose Kamala during the Debate the same way I exposed Crooked Joe, Hillary, and everyone else during Debates,” Trump posted on Truth Social, referring to Democrats Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. “I think Kamala will be easier.”**

**Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, has criticized Kamala Harris for not holding news conferences or participating in interviews since President Biden stepped down from his reelection campaign and she announced her White House bid. Harris occasionally responds to shouted questions while boarding or departing her campaign plane.**
